How to Recognize Tartar Build-up and Prevent it
How do you know if you have Tartar Buildup?
Plaque is a colorless film of bacteria and can be hard to recognize. However, tarter is a mineral buildup that’s fairly easy to see if it is above the gum line. A common sign that you have tartar buildup is a yellow or brown color to your teeth of gums. The only and most efficient way to detect tartar is to see your dentist.
How do you prevent tartar build up?
First, you need to learn how to properly and frequently brush your teeth to help with buildup. If you use tartar control toothpaste, this could help with the brushing process. Second, flossing your teeth regularly is very important and necessary when you want to reduce plaque and tartar buildup.
Only your dentist or hygienist can remove it once tartar has formed. Scaling is the process for removing tartar. During scaling, the dentist or hygienist uses special instruments to remove tartar from your teeth above and below the gum line.
