Why are teeth extracted?
Teeth are removed for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include, decay that has reached deep into the tooth, infection that has decayed a large portion of tooth or bone or that there isn’t enough space for all teeth in your mouth.
Dentists recommend extracting impacted teeth that are only partially erupted. Bacteria can enter around a partially erupted tooth and cause infection, which can extend into bone and create bone loss. These teeth continue to try and erupt even though there is no room to accommodate them. This causes a lot of pressure and could eventually damage the roots of nearby teeth.
